Our Difference

Workers Beer Company is part of BWTUC Trading, a social enterprise based in South London. Social enterprises are social mission driven organisations which trade in goods or services for a social purpose, unlike the private sector BWTUC Trading has no shareholders but delivers a social dividend.

This social dividend is not just profit, all Workers Beer Company servers are volunteers and their wages' are donated to the organisations they support from charities to campaigns from CND Water Aid to In all since its inception the Workers Beer Company has donated over £3 million to social causes.

The social dividend does not end with the 'wages' donated to good causes, the Workers Beer Company invests in its volunteer workforce, helping them to develop skills useful not only to the Workers Beer Company but also in the volunteers wider working life.

The fact that the Workers Beer Company does not have to deliver a financial dividend to private shareholders also benefits the company by allowing it the freedom to invest in developing new ideas and new technologies to improve our service, whether that's the development of multi-pour dispense systems in the early 90's or pioneering sustainability and cup recycling in 2007/8.

The volunteer staff model also enhances our operations. Volunteer staff are invariable highly motivated and skilled. The Workers Beer Company has a huge pool of experienced serving staff and management, many of these managers are also personal license holders.

The Workers Beer Company offers an enticing mix of experience, skills and service in providing events with a bar service combined with the feel good factor that comes from knowing that any profit from that bar service is being reinvested back into our community.
