2000

  • This is the year of the first Tolpuddle festival. In 1834, six farm labourers from this Dorset Village were sent to forced Labour in Australia for forming a union, but were later pardoned following a huge protest campaign. In 1934 an annual March was inaugurated, and now WBC help South West TUC to add a three-day festival to the celebration. WBC remains a sponsor as well as running the bars.
