Bristol Link with Nicaragua

We are proud to have worked with WBC since 1990. It is fantastic to be able to raise funds for our solidarity, education and health work.

An example of how we spend the money is to employ a Nicaraguan development worker and fund her office. One of her key jobs each year is to arrange for a Fairtrade coffee, cocoa or sesame farmer to come to Bristol and work in local schools and organisations for Fairtrade Fortnight. This year’s producer, Ana Maria Gonzalez, reached over 2,500 local children. She also helped clinch a deal with coffee company Bewley’s for 100% Fairtrade Nicaraguan coffee to be sold in 30 of their London outlets.

It has been brilliant to serve behind the bars alongside volunteers from loads of amazing organisations each year and learn about their work, struggles and commitment. It is always uplifting and gives us renewed energy to keep doing what we do.
