We have been sending teams of volunteers to WBC events for many years. The money raised goes into a specific young members account to allow us to run our campaigns, activities and events without needing authorisation from the regional branch which allows us to develop and run with our own ideas.
We attend freshers’ fairs and careers fairs at colleges and universities and give away branded freebies to spread the word about trade unions. Over the last few years we have spoken to thousands of young people. Last year we organised a football tournament in the Yorkshire region. The day was a massive success with 14 teams. The aim was to raise awareness and support for the End Foul Pay Campaign – to get professional football clubs to pay their staff the living wage. Thanks to the Workers Beer Company we were able to pay for this tournament.
