Nicaragua Solidarity Campaign

We have worked with trade unions in the UK and in Nicaragua since the time of the revolution in 1979 and were volunteers at Glastonbury in 1986. Our work focuses on fostering and maintaining links of support and solidarity between trade unions in Nicaragua and the UK in order to share knowledge and experience, enhance mutual understanding and promote social and economic justice. We are recruiting more women and young people into the trade unions, though as poverty still exists this can be difficult as people cannot afford union dues.

Over the years we have seen some amazing bands at the festivals – and also shed tears during the floods. Back in 1990 we had 100 volunteers and raised over £13,000 which was a fortune for us. Fundraising with WBC helps us with all aspects of our work and also helps raise awareness.
